Is it okay to pair Ascorbic Acid & Glycolic Acid, will one cancel the other’s effectiveness?

The answer is simple: no, it won’t cancel their effectiveness but there are few things you need to know beforehand.

Ascorbic Acid is a powerful antioxidant and it’s also a great anti-ageing component, it works best with a low Ph (around 3.5 and lower) whilst Glycolic Acid is one of the best exfoliating ingredients and works wonders with a Ph too. Basically, both work great at low Ph but if your skin Ph gets too low… it will burn your skin.

Let’s take the example of our Ascorbic Acid Serum as well as our Glycolic Acid Night Cream.

Radiant Glow contains Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and Moonlight Glycolic Acid (AHA).

First, Radiant Glow is a “day Serum” while Moonlight is a night treatment. So if you follow our protocol, you already know that you won’t use these two products at the same time!

Second, Radiant Glow uses a new generation of Vitamin C which is ascorbic acid which is non-irritating. So you would not experience the same side effects with Radiant Glow that what you can experience from casual Vitamin C.

Also, Moonlight is a nightly treatment. The main ingredient of Moonlight is glycolic acid which is a photosensitizing ingredient, meaning it will make your skin more sensitive to the sun hence the need to only using it at night.

And last but not least, we’ve enriched both Radiant Glow and Moonlight with cocktails of soothing and hydrating components such as aloe vera or squalane so that you would not sense any irritating side effects!

Plus, when it comes to highly potent ingredients, you’re always safer when using only a few at a time. Glycolic acid being extremely potent, it can definitely be the only active ingredient of your PM routine.

So rest assured, Radiant Glow and Moonlight can both be part of your routine as long as you do not layer them! They’ve been scientifically designed for that.

Keep in mind it’s best to buy non toxic skin care products to protect your skin as well as our planet and make sure to do some research before combining products with different bioactive ingredients and if possible, we strongly suggest trying the product on a safe area on your skin.
